I have a love/unlove relationship with CJane. I can't say hate, because I don't feel that strongly, so I'll take a hint from Facebook and go with unlove.
I love CJane. She's witty. She has style. Good taste. She's honest with herself and her readers. I bet she makes a good friend.
I unlove some of her opinions. Her stance on feminism. Her political views.
Again, though, I love our country (even if I am a "socialist" or a "communist" or a "fascist" according to Fox news), and the fact that we all have the right to say whatever it is we want to say, share it on our blog, make our opinions known with no fear of retribution.
So I read CJane. And NieNie. And I ignore the posts that make me uncomfortable. Because they have the right to their opinions. Because I do not want to see other people slam someone in the anonymous comments section, even if I disagree.
Another thing I love: The fact that CJane has made it known to me that Whit, a fellow blogger, is doing her thesis on blogging, from a folklore standpoint!
Darn it! Can I never have an original idea? I have been throwing around the idea of writing journal articles on the SAME TOPIC! Maybe she will want to work with me? Bloggers in Academia United?
Of course, I never really seem to follow through.
Whit has posted a survey on her blog. She is looking for bloggers and blog-readers alike to complete this survey. If you are reading this, my guess is that you qualify!
I am going to fill out the survey. I hope you do too! There are lots of things going on in the world of social media, blogs, and the like, and it's time we stop looking at it as a vestige of the Me Generation, and start seeing what's really going on...
Feel free to pass it along to your friends. Heck, there are Target gifts cards involved, you know?
Plus, Whit calls that hubby of hers the King. That's pretty cute! I would never call my hubby that, since we all know J has enough self-esteem as it is, but hey, still darn cute!
