Wordless Wednesday: Nine

This child of mine is nine. NINE.

This one is titled, "I'll eat ALL the cake!"
When did that happen? When did we move into the last year of the single digit birthdays?

Ant looks philosophical with his new plantarium.
Ant enjoys celebrating his birthday on Valentine's Day, even though it's technically not his birthday. It make shim feel as if the entire world celebrates with him, and we don't think anyone would mind sharing.  The birthday festivities were so engaging that I forgot to take pictures of his birthday dinner (buffalo chicken enchiladas) and his other presents (39 Clues and the world's largest map of the US).

FYI: We also rocked Valentine's this year.

Wordless Wednesday: Just a Little Bit Vacationed

Larger. Than. His. Head.
Where did I disappear to for the past week and a half? Well, in response to the birthday party conundrum, we came up with a plan. A somewhat harebrained, grandiose plan. That plan involved foregoing any birthday party, and taking a trip, instead. A last minute trip.

Diner food and Formica counter-tops are some of our favorite things.
Taking trips is one of Ant’s all-time favorite things. He counts down the days and then the minutes until we leave. He plans out all of the things we will do, and what we will see, and what roads we will drive down and what he wants to eat while we’re there. Needless to say, the spur-of-a-moment trip was a huge success, and in his mind, much better than any two hour birthday party could ever be.

Beyonce's (giant metal chicken) older brother
The rest of us also had a good time. How could you not when there were giant metal chickens to be photographed?

Plus, you throw in a decent indoor hotel pool, and things are perfect.

Once I catch up (and recoup) I'll be back to my normal, frequently-posting self. We all know that I have plenty of things to say...
