It is a
redirection to a post. An important post—which I wrote over at Sprocket Ink this
morning.
You see,
tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the Joplin tornado, and I’ve written a
post on remembrance.
There are so
many things I remember about that week last year—seeing the names on the
unaccounted list, seeing the pictures of the second story waiting room in St.
Johns hospital (the one with the chair embedded in the steel walls) where I
camped out as a teen when my grandmother was lying in a hospital bed. Having a
friend describe to me how surreal the aftermath was…. “NO, Sarah. You won’t
understand. I can see all the way down to 26th street!”
The blood
centers in towns we drove through the day after the tornado decked out with critical
need banners, and lines of people out the doors. The volunteers. Our president
leading the memorial service at MSSU. The rehabilitation of Cunningham Park.
There are so
many things that cannot fit into one post—or perhaps even a week’s worth of
posts, but I did want to share of our experiences that day with you.
Please read.
Please remember. And if you are so inclined, please light a candle and observe
a moment of silence at 5:41pm (central) tomorrow afternoon.
