Oh! Oh! I never win anything (and by never win, I mean I’ve won nothing. I blame the Nana—who wins everything, from concert tickets over a decade ago to Tupperware at home parties to the penny slots at the Indian Casinos) but I did get an award! Thank you to Jean from http://shadowcatsview.blogspot.com/ for awarding me the Versatile Blogger Award!
Now, as tradition goes, after I thank Jean (Thank You!), I must tell you seven things about myself and list seven individuals who I feel are deserving of the award as well.
So…even things about myself, which I am hoping you did not already know:
1. I think Wednesday night TV is the best, because I often watch the SyFy channel and exchange texts with my friend Jesse for two hours as we disprove every orb, shadow, movement and sound on Ghosthunters and Paranormal: Fact or Faked. OK, so maybe this isn’t a long standing tradition (aka, we’ve only done this for the past two weeks) but the goal is to make this a long-standing tradition. In fact, I am hoping that a future blog post will include a transcript of our most recent conversation—which includes detailed reasons as to why one should wear camouflage heels while chasing after dangerous creatures in desolate places in the dark. (FYI: it’s to kill snakes.)
2. Ice cream is my all-time favorite dessert, but it must have candy or something along those lines in it. In other words, Ben & Jerry’s was made specifically with me in mind.
3. I feed my kids pizza or fast food about once per week, because I am not a good cook, and I love junk food, and my goal is to give them just enough junk food in their childhoods so that they do not go hog-wild for fast food, candy, crap, etc. when they become adults. Like I did.
4. See #3. I have a huge fast food fetish. I am addicted to Wendy’s. But not Burger King. The King creeps me out.
5. My main goal in life (because I’m big on to-do lists and goals) is to not be judgmental of others—to be tolerant of other’s choices and lifestyles. It’s difficult, and I’m not saying that I’ve always succeeded. I’ve witnessed and experienced enough intolerance in others, and the one thing I never want anything to say about me was that I was judgey or intolerant or dismissive. Keep this in mind when you read about how much I love fast food.
6. I spent three of these items talking about food, and now I am super hungry, and thinking about sneaking out to get a bagel breakfast sandwich from the café I love. Yes, I tend to eat breakfast items all throughout the day, because breakfast is my favorite meal when it comes to food options and my least favorite meal when it comes to time of day. Crap, now I’ve spent four of these items talking about food.
7. I need to spend more time making friends in our town, and perhaps even joining a book club! I need to spend less time on Twitter and blogs and Plants vs. Zombies. What am I saying? I love those things. Perhaps I just need to accept this fact. I was the one who-- when recently asked by her husband-- told him that I wanted him to get on Facebook, so we could be Facebook married for our anniversary.
a. He told me that I was getting jewelry instead.
And now… seven blogs that I think you should read, because I find them fascinating (in no particular order):
1. Rachel, from The Rachel Chronicles: I think her vet bills may rival ours, and she describes her Wal-Marts by what layer of hell they reside. This is important information, folks!
2. Ellie, from One Crafty Mother: She has an amazing voice, and creates beautiful jewelry that my family loves to receive as gifts!
3. Jana, from An Attitude Adjustment: Why do I need to join a real life book club when I could join the maladjusted book club?
4. Kristen, from Motherese: I love her voice, and am anxiously waiting for her to return to her blog. Of course she has a good excuse and all; I’m just impatient.
5. Alexandra, at Good Day, Regular People: Whom I’ve only recently met at Studio30Plus, and yet already feel as if we are kindred spirits.
6. Angie, from DesertWind: She uses science to make Peeps swordfight, all for the amusement of us readers and her children. Let’s face it, anything involving Peeps is awesome.
7. E, from TheCooking Traveler: known in real life (gasp!), this lady puts together recipes that my children will eat, even when they include shrimp!
And there you have it folks—plenty of weekend blog reading!
