Happy Easter!

Easter and I have an infamous past.

It started when I was a child—a tomboy—and I was, each year, wrangled into something dressy with ruffles that required the wearing of bobby socks, my hair was brushed within an inch of its life, and then I was forced to sit in a very boring place for an hour and a half.

I much preferred to be outside, playing in the mud. I am fairly certain that the preacher would not have looked upon this favorably. I know the Nana didn’t, because I think I tried to bring the mud with me once when I was about six or so.

It then turned into the whirlwind of running to a variety of households so that the children might see the relatives on the holiday that—in our neck of the woods—does not give you a three-day-weekend. At least during Christmas people expect you to take some time off for travel!

Last year was the year I got my feelings hurt, and then experienced my quarter-life blogging crisis. On that day I vowed that we would start on own family Easter tradition (and our own holiday traditions, in general).

Our family tradition for Easter now includes:
1.      Easter baskets, otherwise known as the celebration of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg
2.      Brunch (homemade or at a nice restaurant, depending on our mood—this time we opted for homemade)
3.      Laziness
4.      Dinner- this year’s menu includes: beautiful pork chops, baby potatoes in garlic butter, asparagus, apple pie, and cinnamon spice cake.
5.      After dinner drive at twilight—enjoying the fact that the earth has come back to life in the past month.

In other words, perfection, in la casa di Frigerio.

I wish a wonderful and relaxing Easter Sunday to those who celebrate, and a wonderful and relaxing Sunday to those who do not!

P.S. Yes, those baskets are filled with implements that my children will hurl at one another. Preferably outside. That was the theme this year. Outside, that is. Hurling things at one another is just something these boys like to do-- might as well embrace it.
